New Years Eve in Fire.

Fire show.
Early afternoon on 31st December I reached Ko Pha-ngan (party island). I knew that all accommodation on the island will be overpriced and overbooked so I did not even bothered myself to look for one. I just booked the ferry to Ko Tao (diving island) for the next day, leave my luggage at one of the restaurant and decided to party for the whole night.

The biggest party took place on the south-east beach of island. There were around ten big sound systems established on the beach and several small ones more inland. It was estimated that there were around fifty thousand people parting that night on the Asia famous fool moon party. It was crazy party.

Fire show.
Different kinds of music, people dressed up and body painted, spectacular fire shows. Some fire shows were professional the other involved audience- like jumping through the fire ring or jumping around burning rope. This second one was especially risky for drunken tourists. Usually several people were jumping together and the rope was speeding quite irregular in order not to allow people to jump too long. Quite a few of tourist woke up next day with some new burnt scars I guess....

This was the new years eve where I have seen the highest number of injured people. When the party takes place on the sandy beach of course most people want to enjoy it bare foot. Unfortunately there were some stupid people that through glass bottles on the ground. Surprisingly many tourists were injured. The other serious cause of injury were often motorbikes accidents on the way back from the party.

It was amazing how tide regulated space of the dance floor. When in the morning the number of dancing people decreased the beach shrink dramatically.

I think thanks to this party I got saturated with the crowds like this for at least a year....
