Hindu festival in Malaysia - day two.

Pierced
devotees.
About the first day of Thaipusam festival read here.

The second day of Thaipusam festival was an piercing day... Quite a few devotees had lot of temporary very heavy piercing all over a body. Some of them had hooks in their back and were caring another person or huge platforms with the Shiva. The more physical pain they experienced the more merit from the God they could expect.

they were carrying...

I did not notice sign of a drop of blood around, although the guys had quite a a few scars... I have to admit that I was in pain observing their afford.

When they reached the temple, they offered the forehead piercing to the God and all piercing was removed on the side of the temple.

Removing piercing in the temple.
Walking with so many different and heavy piercing was a huge physical afford for those people. The devotees had to be extremely devoted towards their religion to do it.
Too much devotion towards religion is sometimes very scary and very dangerous. So many wars started because of too much believe in oneself ideas. On the other hand those people were fighting with their own body limitation in order to show a "true" believing. I am not sure if I can understand this dramatic devotion towards religious or idea. But maybe one day... Maybe in next life?

Below the album from the second day of festival. There is lot of piercing up there:
