Isla Amantani

CSC_4666Together with Malgosia and Maciek, we made a home stay on this island. We stayed in a small room where we were provided with typical meals three times a day. The most delicious were different types of potatoes. Bolivia and South Peru are the mother lands of potato and they have huge variety of this vegetable here.

At the top of the island there were ruins of Inca and Tiwana from where there was an amazing view. We also hiked around the island, on the lake bank and practised a bit our skills in stone skimming.

People on the island are growing different vegetables and are fishing fishes. They also keep a very traditional life style and were traditional cloths on the daily bases, even while working on the field.

Our lunch consisted from four different kinds of potatos.

Surprising part of the landscape were green container like toilets which were built next to almost each house. Apparently government built it two years ago but now now one is using it. Local people claimed that it does not function. I tried to use it at the beginning as the navigation point, but within few minutes I realized that there are everywhere on the island!!!
